AGRI TOURISM

The agricultural sector in South Africa is quite diverse and very established. South Africa has the most developed agricultural sector by far in the African continent in terms of commercial activities (contribution to the country’s GDP, percentage of extent of export and the diversity of agricultural products produced for both the domestic and export markets, infrastructure development (fixed assets/ improvements on farms, total number of hectares under irrigation), mechanization, e.g. tractor sales as a percentage of total tractor sales in the African continent).

Surely, South Africa has set a benchmark in the African continent and many farmers/ agribusiness entrepreneurs, researchers/ academics, law-markers, government officials, investors, agricultural students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in Africa and outside the continent can learn valuable lessons in South Africa in terms of commercial agriculture.
